The Power of Brazil

National conference highlights, educates and celebrates women and the underrepresented in STEAM industries.

AMAZONAS, BRAZIL—October 10, 2018 It has been a year full of empowerment for Wonder Women Tech, an international conference that highlights, celebrates and supports women and the underrepresented in STEAM industries (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math). And now, they are coming to Brazil this upcoming August 2019!

This one-day conference will introduce a new program category for the Inaugural Wonder Women Tech Latin American Summit—Eco-tech and Conservation. Under the 2019 year’s theme, #WeAreFuture, the event will emphasize building the next generation of leaders, changemakers, innovators, futurists and visionaries to ensure a better Earth and a culture of belonging and humanity.

“Women constitute more than half of the population, yet only about 20 percent of executive roles at tech companies are filled by women,” said Lisa Mae Brunson, founder of Wonder Women Tech. “STEAM industries are driving our future, and we demand a seat at the table.

Wonder Women Tech aims to provide a platform for women and underrepresented groups in STEAM fields to network, share stories and empower each other.”
Panel discussions, Mentor Magic Sessions and workshops will give attendees the opportunity to hear from notable thought leaders from companies in the STEAM industries and gain access to mentorship and career development. This conference stands to utilize the power of technology and create an ecosystem that supports nature conservancy, fair trade, sustainability for native forest communities, education, immersive tech and inclusion.

Wonder Women Tech has partnered with the host state of Amazonas, to ensure programming is relevant and accessible to the local community. Wonder Women Tech most importantly plans to engage the underprivileged and minority groups within Latin America and abroad. The goal is to bring the attention of the international tech community, become more inclusive, and offer opportunities to all.

In addition to learning the best practices and gaining industry insights, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in the #InvestInABoss Pitch Competition geared towards providing Female Founders and innovators access to funding and resources that will support them in their early stage of business. Women from high school and up will be invited to pitch their ideas and businesses throughout the year, and finalists will be selected to take the Wonder Women Tech stages to pitch to the audiences. Grand prize winners will win packages from cash prizes, to mentorship, and online resources and tools geared towards providing guidance and metrics for success.

“My vision for bringing Wonder Women Tech to Latin America is to continue to further
highlight the truly underrepresented in STEAM globally,” says Brunson, “As we look to our future, and delve deeper into aspects of science, tech and innovation that deal with climate change, sustainability, LatinX communities, and creating cultures of belonging, I feel that Brazil provides us the environment we need to make our mark in the Americas. I am thrilled to continue changing the landscape by bringing the rich discussions and programming that Wonder Women Tech is known for to Brazil.”

Choosing the State of Amazonas means Wonder Women from around the world are coming home, to train, to be replenished, and to be celebrated. Join us this August 2019 and help empower the minds of tomorrow!
