Senior Designer | Pivotal Labs
Raquel Breternitz is an award-winning designer, speaker, and writer. She is passionate about inclusion, accessibility, and keeping tech human (and human-focused). She is currently a Senior Designer at Pivotal Labs, where she works to enable government agencies to be human-centered, do the right thing, and do what works.
Previously, she has worked with IBM Watson and IBM Design and is a two-time Lesbians Who Tech White House Tech + Innovation Fellow. She is also the grassroots lead of Pivotal D.C.’s Diversity & Inclusion chapter, and founder of the Rainbow@ Employee Resource Group.
As a designer, Raquel’s work spans a variety of mediums and domains, connected by her passion for research-driven inclusive design and hunger for tackling complex problems. She works content-first (ban lorem ipsum), with a sharp eye on ethical considerations and human-centered outcomes.
Raquel lives in D.C. with her partner and an extremely floofy cat, but her heart will always be in her hometown of sunny Austin, Texas. She will sometimes get emotional about fonts, and she is Extremely Online at @raqueldesigns
