Melissa also prioritizes personal and professional responsibility to the community through her involvement in various organizations. She has served on the Board of Directors for the Signal Hill Chamber of Commerce for 2 years. Here she is a strong advocate for providing modern day resources for small business success. She is an active member of Southern California Edison’s Business Advisory Panel and She also serves in various capacities as a volunteer at Antioch Church of Long Beach and Elevate your G.A.M.E. ,a peer and adult mentoring program whose mission is to lift urban students to higher levels in their Grades, Attendance and Maturity to Empower them to be leaders who bring about positive change in their schools, communities and the world.
Melissa is also a part of the founding committee where she has partnered with LAUSD and The Greater Los Angeles YWCA to produce the first young women’s empowerment conference of its kind in Fall 2015. Melissa is also the newly appointed Director of the Urban Media Foundation, a LA and now Long Beach based non-profit committed to educating, advocating, inspiring, and empowering LA County’s most at risk youth with STEM + Arts education and entrepreneurship. This program has served hundred of students annually since 2007 and through newly formed community partnerships and collaboration with LAUSD, the Urban Media Foundation plans to serve over 1000 teens in 2015. Through her work and undeniable passion for giving back, Melissa Guy has been featured in the Signal Tribune newspaper, and received recognition by the City of Signal Hill – Mayor Ed Wilson, State of California Senate – Senator Ricardo Lara, California Legislature Assembly – Assembly Member Patrick O’Donnell, United States Representatives – Congressman Alan Lowenthal.
