Melanie Feliciano writes and directs “Dr. Nutmeg’s Femmebots,” a YouTube comedy and satirical news series about women working in tech. Melanie started her career in 1999 as a writer and producer for Latino.com, a startup based inside a women’s tech incubator in San Francisco. Throughout her 20 years working as a multimedia producer specializing in WordPress, Drupal, CSS, data visualization, video production and animation, she discovered working with men in tech was quite different from working with women. Melanie has lived, studied and worked in Michigan, Denver, Miami, Prague, Brazil, DC, New York City, and returned this year to her hometown Orlando, Fla., aka “the fastest growing tech city,” according to a 2019 CBRE real estate report. She earned her BA in journalism at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and MA in film and video at American University in Washington, DC.
