Maria Thorpe is an executive and works for the Federal Government in Engineering. She is an
international bestselling author, speaker, mentor, and real estate consultant. She has mentored
numerous students and professionals in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM).
She has spoken at various events, including local organizations, schools and colleges inspiring
girls and empowering women. Sharing with them how they can be their best with the gifts and
talents that God gave them.
Ms. Thorpe is the co-owner of Waldorf Chess Club Inc., which she founded with her
husband. She works with children as young as five, helping them find their inner strength, hone
their decision-making skills, and build confidence through the game of chess.
Ms. Thorpe is a graduate of Pennsylvania State University with a Master of Engineering,
Engineering Science degree and a graduate of Drexel University, Philadelphia, PA with a
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. She has received numerous awards and honors
including 2021 Maryland Mother of the Year.
