Jameela Raja Akbari serves as the Chief of the Strategic Workforce Planning (SWP) Staff for the Department of State’s Chief Information Officer, a unit created in June 2016. SWP focuses on IT workforce planning for IRM and the Department. Prior to this role, she was a Senior Management Advisor for the CIO and served as his primary liaison to the Office of the Inspector General. Jameela began her federal career in 2001 as a Presidential Management Fellow at the Department of Health and Human Services. She has also worked at the Social Security Administration, the U.S. Office of Management and Budget, and did a detail to the Department of Education’s Office of the Deputy Secretary. Jameela holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Chicago and a master’s degree from Harvard University’s Graduate School of Education. She lives with her spouse and three children in Northern Virginia.
