Commander George graduated from Southern University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry. She received her commission as an Ensign in the United States Navy in May 2002 from the NROTC program. In addition, she received her Master’s degree in Physics from the Naval Postgraduate School in December 2009. She also attended the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, Ca concentrating in Spanish.
In her initial sea tour, Commander George was assigned to USS LAKE CHAMPLAIN (CG 57) as the Ordnance Officer. During this tour, she participated in RIMPAC and deployed to 5th and 7th fleet in 2005. She then reported to USS JOHN L. HALL (FFG 32) as the ship’s Damage Control Assistant. During this tour, she homeport shifted to Mayport, FL from Pascagoula, MS due to Hurricane Katrina and deployed to 4th fleet in 2007.
After the completion of Naval Postgraduate School and Department Head School in June 2010, Commander George reported to USS RODNEY M. DAVIS (FFG 60) as Chief Engineer in August 2010. While on RODNEY M. DAVIS, she completed a 4th fleet deployment and the first half of a $22 Million Dry Docking Selected Restricted Availability. She served as the Materials Officer (N4) at DESRON 23 based in San Diego, Ca from February 2012 to January 2014.
After departing DESRON 23, Commander George reported to the OPNAV staff and served as the Deputy Executive Assistant to the Director of Navy Staff in February 2014. In April 2016, she reported to the Joint Staff, Strategic Policy and Plans Directorate and served in the Countering Weapons of Mass Destruction and the Strategic Deterrence and Nuclear Policy Divisions. Commander George reported to Navy Recruiting District Atlanta based out of Smyrna, Ga in April 2019 as the Executive Officer and currently serves as the Commanding Officer.
Her personal awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (3 awards), Navy Achievement Medal (2 awards), and various other personal and unit awards.
Commander George and her husband, Aaron, have three children, Talaya (23), Graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University (Advertising), Kymani (11) a 6th grader at Durham Middle School and Naziah (2).
