Ms. Barbie Brewer has been Chief Culture Officer at Gitlab Inc. since September 2017. She has over 20 years of HR experience. Barbie focuses on fostering a strong employee support system and engaging environment as GitLab continues to scale the business and build its all-remote workforce. Her expertise is her ability to strike a balance between a successful, fast-growing company and one that values a diverse workforce focused on support and respect. Prior to GitLab, Barbie was VP, Talent for Netflix, helping to take the company from less than 20 Million subscribers in the US and Canada to over 100 Million globally. Barbie is passionate about great talent, inclusivity, travel, and remote work.  Earlier in Barbie’s career, she worked for IBM and Cisco and has lived and worked in 3 countries. Her role at GitLab, an all-remote company, has enabled her to spend more time with her husband, two kids, two dogs, and a snake.
