Flavia Sparacino is the founder of Sensing Places, a MIT Media Lab spinoff that specializes in experiential design powered by innovative technology platforms. She creates smart spaces for retail, office, museums and theme parks using predictive behavioral models, computer vision, AI, and immersive content. Flavia developed probabilistic networks to extract user interest profiles from commonly available data for content personalization in video and advertising. She also developed body and facial camera tracking techniques, blended with machine learning, with applications in event-based advertising, activations, virtual try-on and showrooms. Her areas of expertise include computer vision, machine learning and Bayesian networks for decision making. Her firm, Sensing Places is based in Santa Monica and has a portfolio of global interactive projects including a 10,000 sqt showroom for Vodafone, two theme park experiences in Epcot and collaborations with Gehry Partners and Zaha Hadid Architects for development projects totaling a combined $9 billion.
