As a tech blog contributor, you will be responsible for researching story leads and writing, fact-checking, copy-editing and reviewing editorial submissions and correspondence. You will have the opportunity to contribute to project ideas and strategies as well as attend and cover neat local and community related events. Our contributors will have the unique opportunity to acquire published articles, gain exposure to many aspects of publishing and show an in-depth knowledge in covering ‘tech innovation’ and business news.

This is an exciting and rare opportunity to meet and partner with influential business leaders rallying around our mission to foster diversity and inclusion in the S.T.E.A.M. field in the greater Los Angeles area and internationally.

Training will be through doing, so be prepared for an exciting, fast paced environment. We would like someone in the Long Beach or LA area who can work from home or come into the office for a total of 10 hours/week.

This opportunity is unpaid. If you’re looking to build your portfolio, this is the perfect opportunity! Paid opportunities could be offered as the platform expands.

Responsibilities

• Conduct research on topics pertaining to how the “tech innovation movement” is impacting businesses, government, design, etc. and suggest story and interview topics related to overall mission of Wonder Women Tech.
• Research legislation and its impact on “clean tech” business.
• Create innovative, solution-oriented stories around diversity and inclusion.
• Do research/writing questions for our blog interviews, our newsletter, and other outlets.
• Find cool articles and recommend twitter/facebook updates to direct our audience to them.
• Attend and blog from exciting local events.
• Interview leaders in green business through writing or over the phone, and post those interviews.
• Create relationships with other writers, blogs, potential speakers, press, etc.

Qualifications

• Exceptional writing and editing skills, sharp analytical skills, meticulous attention to detail and factual accuracy.
• Ability to complete projects on deadline with little supervision.
• Passion about technology, design and business pertaining to S.T.E.A.M., diversity & inclusion topics and entrepreneurship.
• Experience with WordPress and social media platforms: twitter/facebook/linkedin.
• Experience with RSS and understanding of SEO, meta tagging is a plus. (But not required)
• Ability to work with a team and take direction well.
