Vanessa Archambault, Engineering Manager at infosec startup Elevate Security, started her career in 2014 as a self-taught software engineer. She currently leads a diverse team spread across the US, Canada, Germany, Singapore, Latin America and Pakistan. In her capacity as Engineering Manager, Vanessa oversees the reliability and scalability of the data integration within the company’s platform. Responsibilities in her current position include team leader, planning, overall execution, scrum master, mentor and career coach. She graduated from UC Berkeley in 2008 with a degree in Environmental Science. While working in the environmental field, combining Geographic Information Science with Natural Resource Management, the technical aspects of the work led her to software development. Six years later, she has progressed into management and enjoys building a diverse team, leveraging her team’s talents to build innovative projects, and growing her team members’ skillsets and careers. Over the last six years Vanessa has also done extensive work in the DEI space and co-leads a non-profit called Tech By Choice which is a community aimed to increase diversity in the tech industry one technologist at a time by offering low to no-cost events, workshops, and classes to help support individuals in protected groups enter and stay in the tech industry. In her spare time Vanessaenjoys opera and building pinball machines.
