Therezinha Ruiz de Oliveira holds a degree in Portuguese and English, and a postgraduate degree in School Management, both from the Federal University of Amazonas (UFAM). She has worked for over 48 years in public and private education.
She is a member and founder of the Amazon Education Forum, a member of the Municipal and State Education Forums, and a member of the Amazonas Academy of Arts, Sciences and Literature. She is currently a State Deputy of the State of
Amazonas.

From 1995 to 2004, she has been in high-level positions in the Municipal Secretariat of Education, which has made her an important part of the development of education in the State of Amazonas, being personally responsible for creating day care facilities that have promoted social integration of the local children; for the implementation of the first Child Protective Service units of the City of Manaus; and for the generation of more than thirty thousand new available spots in public schools for young children.

Therezinha Ruiz had her first term as a State Deputy from the years of 2007 to 2010. During this period, she was the author of several laws in the State of Amazonas in which she helped provide support for educators in the state, create after-school
community engagement programs and combat bullying in the school environment.

In 2012, Therezinha Ruiz was elected alderman by the City of Manaus with 5,308 votes, and was the most active alderwoman of the year 2013. She was re-elected to the position in 2016 and also served as Chairwoman of the Education Committee of the Municipality of Manaus (CMM), authoring several laws that benefit the population in general, mainly in the area of ​​Education.

For her relevant services in ​​education in the State of Amazonas, she was awarded the National Darcy Ribeiro Award for Education by the Education Commission of the Chamber of Deputies in 2015.

In 2018, Therezinha Ruiz was elected State Deputy, with 17,111 votes. In her current term, in the Legislative Assembly of Amazonas, she leads the Education Commission, extending the scope of her parliamentary activity. She continues to work in the defense of the rights of children and adolescents, of women, and of the elderly, as well as for improvements in public healthcare and the protection of the environment.
